Is Teddy Bridgewater Worthy Of Heisman Hype? Lousiville Claims Keg Of Nails 34-31 in OT

UPDATE: Cardinals claim the “Keg of Nails” 34-31 in OT.

The cold rainy weather turned Louisville’s whiteout into the world’s largest wet t-shirt contest.  Great football weather for smashmouth football but not so much for these two high octaine offenses.  Earlier in the day I posed this question, “Is Teddy Bridgewater worthy of the Heisman Hype?”   Plain and simple, beating North Carolina and possibly going undefeated in conference play, while great for Charlie Strong and Cardinals fans, won’t cut it on a national scale against high profile competition in big time conferences.  Teddy has to light up the scoreboard and pile on the stats, ala Geno Smith through his first 5 games.  After a poor start, down 24-14 in the 3rd quarter, Bridgewater and the Louisville offense kicked it in high gear to remain undefeated in Big East play with the 34-31 overtime victory.  Bridgewater finished with 416 yds, 2 TD’s, with 1 Int.  That’s big time regardless; considering the conditions, that’s off the charts.

SMACKcast – Quick hitter with Card Chronical on Teddy Bridgewater

Teddy Bridgewater looks to reclaim the Keg of Nails for the Louisville Cardinals, 7-0 and 2-0 in the Big East, from a pissed off Cincinnati Bearcat team that is coming off a 29-23 loss to the Toledo Rockets.   Louisville is the home favorite tonight but Cincinnati has won the last four.  Louisville will face their biggest test this season in a depleated Big East Confrence.  The Cardinals along with Cincinnati and Rutgers are the only remaing undefeated teams in the Big East.

Super Teddy, Have no FearIs Bridgewater worthy of the Heisman Hype?  Because the lack of strength in the Big East, Bridgewater’s numbers have to be over the top.  Beating North Carolina and possibly going undefeated in conference play, while great for Charlie Strong and Cardinals fans, won’t cut it on a national scale against high profile competition in big time conferences.  Teddy has to light up the scoreboard and pile on the stats, ala Geno Smith through his first 5 games.  Bridgewater has thrown for 1694 YDS, 11 TD’s with only 3 Int’s in seven games under center this season.  It’s go time for Teddy.  What better place than Friday night on ESPN for a comming out party?

Cincinnati’s defense thrives on creating havoc in the back field for opposing QB’s.   Good news for Bridgewater, Bearcat DE Walter Stewart is a scratch for the second week in a row with an upper body injury.
